Legacy. That is what today should be about, and I believe that actually legacy is at the heart of what we are celebrating in the midst of a commercialistic world.
Legacy literally means something handed down by a predecessor. That definition doesn’t specify whether it is an intentional handing down or accidental one. It doesn’t say when it is to be handed down or why it is handed down. That something could be good, bad or meaningless. But it does say that it is handed down by a predecessor.
We are all predecessors. Another generation, that we may or may not have helped create, is coming and we will hand down something. It could be a little something that people forget or a big something to at least one person. Whatever it is, it is a legacy that either will be written in the history books or spoken roughly about in a eulogy.
Lately I have been thinking about eulogies as family members have passed on. I have been left thinking about their legacies and their marks upon my story. Having a child of my own has made me think about Father’s Day in a different tone. Now I think about legacy on a daily basis and not only during eulogies, powerful films, or life-changing moments.
During these times of thought, reflection, and dreaming I have decided to follow through on one of my dreams and pursue the creation of a brand with positive legacy building at its center. I want this for me and my pursuit of building a legacy that does more than inspire my children, wife, and people I share this world with.
Coming soon will be a brand that creates with intention to inspires men to forge their own legacy. My hope is that you can join with me during this endeavor, share it with others, and create for yourselves a thing handed down by you, the predecessor.
